Morocco Grand Tour

⇒ Day 1: Arrival in Tanger & Transfer to Chefchaouen

It’s your first day of 12 day Morocco Tour you’ll arrived at Tangier Airport and welcomed with warm greetings. If your arrival is in the morning, your program will start with city sightseeing, beginning from the famous Hercules Cave. This marvel of nature and history is sure to attract the curious eyes of all nature lovers and history buffs. Next, we stop at a picturesque viewpoint over the merging of the Atlantic Sea with the Mediterranean Ocean, giving us much to revel in. Then we move on to Cap Spartel, where a series of scenic views embraced by the tower bid adieu. The rest of the world knows it as the second closest point to Spain, next to that in Tunisia.

Then we will go to the Medina of Tangier from where great views of the ocean and the port can be taken in. After lunch, we will drive through the Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, stopping along the way to take in the majestic natural sights. Late in the afternoon, we arrive at Chefhaouen, “The Blue Pearl” or “Blue City,” where you will spend a few days enamored with its charming blue-painted streets. Your Riad, a boutique hotel located at the heart of the Medina, will serve as your abode for the night.

⇒ Day 2: Free Exploration Day in Chefchaouen (Blue City)

A day to remember. You can take a lengthy but unforgettable morning exploration after breakfast on the narrow streets of the Medina-washed and white-painted. Locals believe that the blue color helps keep mosquitoes away. Founded in 1471 by Ali Ben Rachid, Chefchaouen served as a fortress for Muslims against colonial forces. One of the popular activities in this town is to hike up the mountain to the Spanish Mosque at the hilltop for a breathtaking sunset. Then, return to your Riad for the night.

⇒ Day 3: Chefchaouen » Volubilis (Roman Ruins) » Meknes » Fes

The third day of our journey began in Chefchaouen and took us through the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the Forum of Meknes, onward to the city of Fes: with a promise of a visit to two important sites in the history of Morocco en route. Winding through the majestic ruins of Volubilis, the ancient capital dating back 2,321 years, our visit is the first occurrence. Carthaginians originally founded that city before it came under the power of Romans, who built some of the grandest buildings in the city. Temples, courts, public spaces, lanes, baths, and houses embellished with large numbers of striking tiles and mosaics are awaiting your exploration. The ancient city was the capital of Mauritania, serving as a very important Roman outpost.

From there, we were headed towards the enchanting Meknes, the once capital city during the reign of Ismaili Dynasty. The peaceful ambience of the city is well complemented by its parks while architectural marvels take you back through a thousand years of time. Since 1996, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Meknes acquired great fame during the reign of Sultan Ismail when impressive monuments, including religious schools, mosques, granaries, and stabling grounds, were built against a backdrop of more than 40 kilometers of city walls. Things to see in Meknes include: King Ismaili Museum; Hri Swani; Sahrij Swani; Qara prison; and Bab Mansour gate.

Finally, we conclude the expedition with a scenic trip to Fes, where your driver will drop you off at one of the charming riads nestled in the heart of the Medina. The riad will be your base for the night as you rest and soak in the atmosphere of one of Morocco’s busiest and most famed cities.

⇒ Day 4: Fes Sightseeing tour of the city with a Local tour Guide

After breakfast in your Riad, your driver guide will meet you around 9:00 AM, taking you for an encounter with the magnificent Golden Royal Gates. Your expert local guide will meet you right here to take you through this ancient city of the 12th century. The very first visit is to the stately gates of the King’s Palace, exquisitely ornamented with tiles, wood carvings, and mosaics. Just looking from the outside leaves you imagining how wonderful it is on the inside.

Afterward, you will head to a local pottery factory, a hive of creativity and craft. Famous for its pottery, this workshop is a living context for the cultural heritage of Morocco. The artisans mold clay into beautiful plates, bowls, vases, and tiles within the shop. Each of these fine objects is handmade and tells its own tale; a tale of craft, passed through generations.

Medina and it’s Secrets:

Journey through small lane streets in the Medina of Fez, where you will marvel at the ancient city’s vivid architecture. Foremost here is the mosque and madrasa called Al-Qarawiyyin, an eminent institution that was founded by the vision-forging Fatima al-Fihri, a great woman who dominated the future knowledge factory of the region. While strolling about in the byways, you will be taken through the years for a brief period through every alleyway with the building of the Bou Inania, a mid-14th-century madrasa famous for its intricate tilework and calm, collegial courtyard. This walk would therefore culminate in the renowned tanneries which have seen leather produced in this way for hundreds of years. To cap the splendid day off, let’s take a walk through the Jewish Quarter that is known by its local name, Mallah, and immerse ourselves in the rich history.

Ever since the beginning of the Jewish community’s residence in Fez, this artistic and enterprising group has been an icon for both the ancient and modern activities of craftsmanship, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. Your guide will almost etch into your memory the real story concealed behind this storied place, and nobody has ever answered back at him. When this miraculous day ends, once more it will be your driver-gone-guide who will come to meet you, and your local guide may deliver you his farewell. This is a once in a lifetime experience, where Fez provides itself as the perfect time machine through which one can connect with the old world and reap through its ancient tiny ways.

⇒ Day 5: Fes » Ifrane » Cedar Forest » Midelt » Ziz Valley » Sahara Desert

Today’s journey is just so breathtaking since we are going into and through different characters of land, with all such dazzling landscapes. Firstly, we will cross Ifrane, also known as “Switzerland of Morocco”, mainly European-style theme architecture. The town receives some tourism during the snow seasons, although Moroccans prefer to spend their weekends here. The road further leads us to the glorious Cedar Forests that host the endangered Barbary macaque population. The macaques migrated from Gibraltar but have since made it their home. Feeding is allowed, but with caution.

After, we keep on to Midelt, a picturesque town situated in the Middle Atlas Mountains and famous for the many apple trees from which apple fruits get exported to European countries. Last but not least is crossing over the potential view of the Ziz Valley, with its palm oasis and river. The only livelihood for the locals here comes from selling dates and Juice dates.

By the end of the day, just before dark, you will finally be standing on the sweeping Khamsin winds over the dune landscape, simply stunning sights that one cannot miss. Here, your camels are already lodged and awaiting you for quite some time. With these camels, you will embark on a journey through the small and tall dunes for about one and a half hours, approximately 6 kilometers wide. On your way to the camp, you will have some free time to catch that Sunset, just prepare and have your camera to memorize it. Tonight will be with dinner in the desert under the sky with sparkling stars and some traditional Berber rhythms around a campfire.

⇒ Day 6: Desert Excursion » Khamlia Village » Nomads » Meffis Mountain

The day propels one to wake up early because it is assured that one can witness one of the best sunrises of a lifetime. After breakfast in the desert, the same options are open for the return camel ride to the village or to 4*4 it. Our adventure into this fascinating town is such an interesting one. Here, the local hospitality and warm welcomes never end. The people of Berber, who have lived in the area for thousands of years, show visitors their traditional way of life.

Our first visit is in a Khamila village, whereblack skinned people set up their own village after much immigration into Morocco from Sudan, Mali, and South Africa. While in the village, we will visit one of the aged Music associations that are famous for its Gnawa Rhythms. Upon your entry, a glass of tea would be served to welcome you. It is one of the traditional ways of welcoming in the Village and the whole country. Later have some fun and dance with the Gnawa rethemes, and you feel yourself transported through time as every surrounding loses its meaning due to the spirituality found in the music.

Next to Meffis:

This Mountain is famous and independent as it was colonized long back by the French. Precious metals and eyeliner were extracted from here, and also the Galina, which was used to make mascara. Thereafter we continue on our excursion towards the Nomad family who lives behind erg Chebbi dunes. Further, we will spend some times with them under their handwoven tent made up of camel skins. After a little glass of their tea, we will continue our way to one of the area d’Oases to see what is happening in the desert and how oases get the water!! Time for lunch in one of the local restaurants specializing in making Berbers pizza- Next, we drive you to the Hotel to complete your day poolside. Overnight at a superfantastic Hotel.

⇒ Day 7: Sahara Desert » Rissani » Todgha Gorge » Dades Gorge

The adventure of 12 days in Morocco is still hiding the wonders and Magical Sites waiting for us to visit. Emotionally said, today we will drive out of another one of Morocco’s spiritually and magnificent sites, the Sahara Desert. So we’ll drive pretty much straight and make our first stop at Rissani City, a little town with a traditional market whose history is paramount having been the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty from which the current king, Mohamed VI, and his royal family hail.

We will walk within the spectacular market that dates back centuries and discover together what this place has to offer its guests. Thereafter we continue towards one of the miraculous gorges of Morocco, the Todgha gorge. To be washed down by the jaw-dropping views offered by the massive mountains standing high on either side: just a natural view that has bludgeoned its way into the heart of God himself. The soaring cliffs and Bid River threading its way down under the earth’s crust carving out a common path for itself through the stone till it grew to be one of the longest rafts in Morocco that is considered a lifeline to several orchards, forests, and oases for irrigation purposes.
